Sharkoon have been around since 2003 and since then have been producing a wide variety of computer accessories and peripherals. Today I’ve managed to get my hands on the Sharkoon GSone, which is their professional stereo gaming headset.

Removing the headset from the box, the first thing you’ll notice is the extra large ear cups/ear cushions. The amount of padding these cushions offer give great comfort during gaming and allow you to wear them for hours on end without feeling any pain in your neck or ears.

Packed inside the large ear cups are 53mm drivers which provide a heavy bass but also give a nice detailed sound to the higher tones. The headset comes with a removable microphone which offers average voice quality at best. One thing we really like about the this microphone is its ease of use. Instead of having to flick a switch or slider to mute it you can simply raise it up which will exactly that for you.

The headphones aren’t wireless unfortunately and your only means of connection is via a 3.5mm port. Manufactured from a mix of plastic and lightweight metal the GSone headset feels strong and sturdy and could should definitely survive a few knocks.

The 3.5mm cable included is again very well made and is finished with braided thread which helps to protect the cable inside.

Our Verdict

When taking everything into account including the price which is set at just under £40 then the GSone headset doesn’t fall short and actually performs quite well. The microphone may only offer average quality voice audio but for the gaming use this is fine. The overall headset quality however is good and I’d be happy to use it for any extended gaming sessions.
